Sept 19 - First SLT and PTA Meetings of the 2023-2024 School Year
Good Evening Parents and Guardians of the East-West School of International Studies, This is Principal Cromer calling with an important announcement. Welcome back to our 2023 - 2024 school year. I want to meet and talk to as many parents as possible to hear your thoughts, so please come out to our very first PTA meeting for the year on Tuesday, September 19th at 6:30 p.m. Prior to the PTA meeting we will have our first School Leadership Team meeting at 5:30 p.m. Parents are invited to this meeting as well. If you cannot make the School Leadership meeting please come out and support our PTA meeting at 6:30 p.m. We would love your feedback on how to keep improving East-West!

Quiero conocer y hablar con tantos padres como sea posible para escuchar sus opiniones, así que asista a nuestra primera reunión de la PTA del año el martes 19 de septiembre a las 6:30 p.m. Antes de la reunión de la PTA tendremos nuestra primera reunión del Equipo de Liderazgo Escolar a las 5:30 p.m. Los padres también están invitados a esta reunión. Sept 6th: HS Fall Semester Program Pick-up

East-West High School Families:

On Wednesday September 6th, high school students should pick up their new program for the fall semester between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM, in the Lobby.
Any student who does not come on Wednesday, September 6th between the hours of 9 AM and 11 AM should arrive the next day, Thursday, September 7th, at 7:30 AM in the lobby, which is the first day of school

At 8:00 AM all students will go directly to their period 1 class. Note that there are NO zero period classes on Thursday, September 7th. All students will begin their school day at 8:00 AM on Thursday, September 7th.

Parents can also see their child's student program via their NYC Schools Account.

Middle School Families: On the first day of school, September 7, middle school students should enter directly into the auditorium via the ramp at the corner of Colden St and Juniper Ave. Middle school students will receive their printed schedules inside the auditorium and stay in the auditorium until each class is dismissed. Note that there are NO zero period classes on Thursday, September 7th. All students will begin their school day at 8:00 AM on Thursday, September 7th.

6/9 Remote Learning
Dear Families,

The chancellor has just announced that tomorrow will be a remote learning day for all students.

All students should stay home on Friday, June 9.

All students should access the Google Classroom for each of their Friday classes asynchronously on Friday

Any student who needs help finding the Google Classroom for one of their classes should email their teacher.

Any student who needs help accessing their ewsis.org account should email our parent coordinator, Ms. Campbell, at acampbell@ewsis.org

Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences: 5/18

Dear East-West Families,

Our school will be holding Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, May 18.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are an important opportunity for families to meet with teachers to discuss your child’s progress, as well as ways to help them improve. Families will be able to book appointments with individual teachers on Thursday, May 18th from 4:30 PM- 7:30 PM. If you are unavailable on that date, or if the teacher with whom you would like to conference is fully booked, please email the teacher(s) to schedule a conference at a diﬀerent time.

Booking Appointments with Teachers

We are asking families to use Microsoft Bookings to schedule a 10-minute conference with each teacher that you would like to meet with.

To book your appointment:

1)  Click Booking Link

2)Select one of your child’s teachers from the “Select Staﬀ” option. (DO NOT select “Anyone.”)

3) Click one of the times displayed.

4) Fill in the information on the form and submit. Type your email address carefully.

5) Repeat for each teacher with whom you would like to schedule a conference.

Please keep in mind the following:

●     In order to accommodate all parents, we must limit conferences to 10 minutes with each teacher.

●     Select the name of the teachers that you would like to speak to - DO NOT select “anyone”

●     Although you are selecting teachers to conference with, for co-taught (more than one teacher) courses, families may be contacted by any teacher of the class.

●     While making an appointment, you will be given the choice between a telephone or a video conference. If you require translation services, please select ‘phone conference’ so that we can accommodate your language needs.

●     In the event that you are unable to meet during this time or you miss your appointment, please contact your child’s teacher directly to set up an alternative time for a conference.

●     If you do not know the names of your child’s teachers, please access your NYC Schools Account. Your child’s teacher’s names are also listed on the most report card that you received or on your child’s paper class program.
