    Chinese 1: Chinese Language and Culture 1

    Students will begin to deveop proficiency in listening to and speaking Mandarin (PuTongHua). They will learn proper pronunciation and engage in simple conversations. Topics will include personal identification, education, travel, health and welfare. There is extensive emphasis on vocabulary learning. Chinese culture will be explored through readings, projects, and interactive activities. Chinese characters will be introduced to allow for written expression.

     

    Chinese 2: Chinese Language and Culture 2

    The students continue to develop their proficiency in the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They expand their vocabulary, improve their pronunciation, and learn more complex grammatical structures in order to communicate in a variety of real-life-situations. The students further develop their knowledge of Chinese culture.
