9TH GRADE 1st-year CHINESE

Chinese 1: Chinese Language and Culture 1

Students will begin to deveop proficiency in listening to and speaking Mandarin (PuTongHua). They will learn proper pronunciation and engage in simple conversations. Themes will include topics, such as personal identification, educations, travel, health and welfare, etc. There is extensive emphasis on vocabulary learning. Chinese culture will be explored through readings, projects, and interactive activities. Chinese characters will be introduced to allow for written expression.
