The East-West School of International Studies

East-West on YouTube

I don't know who posted these, but here are some links to videos that someone in our school community recently made and posted onto YouTube. I am very proud of the artwork our students are producing under the expert guidance of our artist-in-residence, Mr. David Marini. Some anonymous person has taken a lot of their personal time to create these great little videos showcasing our student's artwork. These are tastefully done and do not contain "real" images or the full names of our students. These videos are an example for us all of the importance of paying careful attention to protecting the rights of the innocent, yet at the same time still sharing and celebrating the work of our students.

It is said that information wants to be free. Cameras on cell phones and other gadgets are ubiquitous in our society. It is no longer possible, nor desirable, to even attempt to control the way information gathered from pocket cameras is used. However, I urge students and community members to think carefully before posting images or real names of themselves, their friends, teachers, family members, etc onto online sites such as YouTube. Posting such information can easily hurt those who are dear to us, and can put users into danger. Let's be careful out there.

Mr. Sherman say's, "Safety is #1."
