Dear East-West Families,
Welcome to a new year at East-West School of International Studies (EWSIS).
This year promises to be an exciting one for EWSIS. For the first time since its founding in 2006, we have grown to include 6th to 12th grades. Last year, EWSIS made the short list of “New York City’s Best Public Middle Schools” published in the Daily News. And comes June, we will have our very first graduating class of 2010. This is history in the making.
Your involvement in the education of your children is important. Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is where parents and teachers come together to ensure the best will be rendered for your children. Its first meeting this year is scheduled on October 3, next Saturday, at 10am. I hope to see you all at the meeting.
NYC Department of Education recently developed a comprehensive information system, ARIS Parent Link, where you can access academic information about your children in NINE different languages. But you must have an email address and a computer with internet access. I will be sending you instruction of how to work this useful link shortly.
Many of you have not given us instruction of how best to contact you. We have planned many events, workshops, and trips just for you the parents. And there will be urgent announcements that need to reach you in a hurry. If you do not have an email address, we can help you to set one up in no time.
