DescriptionWelcome to 6th Grade Japanese, a beginning course in Japanese.
2009-2010 School Year Marking Period 1 September 9 - October 23 Marking Period 2 October 24 - December 14 Marking Period 3 December 15 - February 1 (End of 1st Semester) Marking Period 4 February 2 - March 23 Marking Period 5 March 24 - May 11 Marking Period 6 May 12 -June 25th (End of 2nd Semester and School Year)
FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEPT. GRADING POLICY Tests 35% -Full period exams given in class, once or twice per marking period. Quizzes 15% -10-15 minutes each, focusing on a specific topic. Generally given once a week. Graded Classwork 20% -specified assignments and tasks that all students must complete in class. This includes: -dictations -recitation of dialogues (graded for pronunciation, fluency, and accuracy) -performance of role plays (graded for pronunciation, fluency, and accuracy) -completion of in-class interview activities - writing exercises -responses to readings Projects 15% -A project that is connected to the unit of study and which includes: -writing -editing and revision -an oral presentation (optional) -group projects must demonstrate learning by all members (no decorator roles) Homework 10% Forums 5% -Students receive credit based on the quality of writing and thoughtfulness of their ideas, as well as their responses to other posts.
