AP English Class

Attached are a couple of photos of Ms. Sharifi, who is from the Iranian American Society, visiting our AP class today.  She was such a gracious visitor! She brought tasty Persian, gave us a geographical lesson, showed us Persian money, spoke to us in Farsi, and let us see copies of Iranian children's books and the Koran.  It was such a nice addition to our reading of Nafisi's book; I'm so glad she could make it!  I would love to have her back again, and would recommend her to any history classes that might have relevant content she could add to.

"Sharifi shed light on the fact that the new regime was very cruel and disrespectful of women. She said that the Iranian government claims they are following the Quran.  However, the Quran does not explicitly suggest that women be forced to wear headscarf and so on and so forth.  It was very eye-opening to hear about the kinds of conditions that Iranian women encounter on a daily basis." - Ashley Vincent, student
